ENSAI R Teaching Material

Two master courses, six slide decks, all written in Quarto

Tip

Everything on this site (this homepage included) is built with Quarto. This website is itself a Quarto artefact: the pages you browse are Quarto documents rendered to HTML, and every one of the six slide decks is also a Quarto document, written in the same plain-markdown-plus-code syntax and rendered to reveal.js slides. Quarto is one tool that produces websites, slide decks and books from a single source; the Reproducible Workflows course below teaches exactly that.

This repository collects teaching material for two graduate courses (ENSAI / Nantes Université, taught by A. Stamm). Each course is three 3-hour sessions; the slide decks point to hands-on labs and live-coding, which fill out the time.

The R Statistical Language

An introductory / comprehensive course on R, taught from the base-R console in Positron and progressively moving into the tidyverse and ggplot2. The course home page gathers the synopsis, the slides per session, the hands-on labs and the learning outcomes.

Reproducible Workflows

A course on reproducible workflows: writing Quarto documents and books, sourcing and cleaning open data (including data.gouv.fr), and versioning, pinning and publishing analyses so they can be re-run by anyone, anywhere. The course home page gathers the synopsis, the slide decks per session, the hands-on labs and the downloadable materials.

Why a website?

Quarto can render one source into many output shapes. The same project that produces these six revealjs slide decks and (in the RR course) a Quarto book also renders this website, an ordinary Quarto site whose pages link straight to the decks. In other words: yes, all the slides were also made with Quarto, and so was the site that hosts them.
